DECATUR, IL- The Macon County Health Department (MCHD) and Macon Mosquito Abatement District (MMAD) will be partnering to hold a tire recycling event for residents in Macon County on Thursday, June 20th from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Unused/discarded tires can quickly become prime breeding grounds for mosquitos. The MCHD and MMAD will be working to eliminate some of the barriers associated with tire disposal to decrease mosquito-borne infections and illnesses.
What: Tire recycling event to collect rimless passenger tires
Who is invited to participate: Macon County residents
When: Thursday, June 20th from 8:00 a.m. to noon
Where: Macon Mosquito Abatement District, 3755 Cundiff Road, Decatur, IL
Those who choose to participate should bring proof of Macon County residency.
Up to 10 rimless passenger tires will be accepted per household. No lawnmower tires, semi-truck tires, tractor tires, or tires from local tire shops will be accepted at this event.
