We provide a variety of programs and services for caregivers, new and expecting parents, and children from birth to age 5. Our staff also provides information and referrals for programs and services provided by partner agencies throughout the community.

Better Birth Outcomes- Comprehensive (BBO-C)


Our Better Birth Outcomes-Comprehensive (BBO-C) program offers eligible pregnant and postpartum individuals and their infants comprehensive, 1:1 nursing assessments and assistance to connect and engage with desired services and understand the importance of a medical home. Navigators provide comprehensive nursing assessment and nursing intervention as well as assistance to connect families to needed supports available in our community. Navigators help the client meet their family’s health and wellness goals. and promote the reduction of maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program


Our WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselors give basic breastfeeding information and support to WIC breastfeeding moms to help improve their breastfeeding experience . Peers can talk to moms by phone or text or by visiting them in the home, WIC clinic, or hospital. For more information, please call us at (217) 423-3764 ext: 1335.

Healthy Families Illinois™ Macon County is a home visiting program that provides new parents with parenting skills and basic child health information to achieve appropriate growth and development. igrow links families to home visiting programs that offer family-focused services to expectant parents and families with new babies and young children. igrow will pair families with a home visiting program based on each family’s individual needs and schedules. Our home visitors emphasize practical parenting skills, as well as family bonding before birth and as children grow up.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)


The WIC Program provides supplemental food and nutrition education for women, infants and children up to 5 years old. Nutrition education can be offered in a variety of ways, including individual nutrition education, group education, self-study modules and/or internet education. WIC also promotes breastfeeding and offers breastfeeding support through our Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program.


To qualify for WIC, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Applicants must be a pregnant or post-partum woman, a breastfeeding woman, or have an infant or child up to 5 years old.
  2. Applicants must live in the state in which they apply.
  3. Applicants must meet WIC Income Eligibility guidelines or be determined automatically income-eligible based on participation in certain programs such as Snap, Medicaid, or TANF. See WIC income Eligibility Guidelines button for further information.
  4. Applicants must be screened by a WIC professional to determine nutritional risk. In most cases, this is completed during your first appointment.


WIC is currently offering in-person services. Remote service options are available for specific visit types. For more information, please call us at 217-423-3764. WIC phones are open for calls from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The WIC office is closed for lunch, Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. When calling the WIC office, please leave a detailed voicemail and a WIC staff member will return your call as soon as possible.


WIC Walk-in Clinic


When: Tuesdays-Wednesdays-Thursdays

Starting Times: 8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (WIC is closed 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)


Appointments fill quickly! First-come, first-served.

If appointments are full, you may be asked to come to the next WIC Walk-in Clinic.
